Looking for exciting ways to keep your kids active this year? Vikes camps offer everything from high performance sport camps, to sport development, climbing, outdoor, and non-competitive recreational camps.
Vikes Athletics and Recreation offers youth camps for children ages 5 to 17 years old. In addition to our popular summer camp program, we have expanded to include camps over winter break, spring break and pro-d days. Using both indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and fields on the University of Victoria campus, our experienced Vikes camp leaders will guide campers through a variety of games and activities. Campers will develop new skills, meet new friends, explore creativity, and experience exciting activities in a fun, safe and positive environment.
Throughout the year we have a number of different camps: seasonal camps (spring, summer, winter) over the school holidays.

We offer four categories of Vikes Summer Camps for children ages 5 to 17 years old. With a range of camps to choose from, there is something for every camper.

Unleash your creativity in the great outdoors at our Art in the Wild summer camp! This hands-on program invites kids aged 7-12 to explore nature while creating unique works of art inspired by the world around them. From using natural materials like leaves, stones, and twigs as brushes, to drawing inspiration from towering trees, rushing streams, and colorful sunsets, campers will immerse themselves in an artistic journey that connects them to the environment

Vikes ball hockey camp promotes skill development, fun and fair play in the CARSA field house's dry floor arena! Campers will learn skills through various drills in ball handling, shooting, passing and defence, supplemented with other activities mixed into the day. YOUTH WELCOME
We are excited to offer an overnight high-performance basketball camp for female athletes entering grade 10-12! This camp will be a great opportunity to experience life as a high-performance athlete at the University of Victoria. Campers will get seven training sessions that include both on and off-court elements; on-court sessions will focus on individual skill development and decision-making using a games approach, while off-court sessions include a campus tour, a recruiting information presentation, an introduction to strength and conditioning training as well as a Q&A with our Vikes Varsity athletes. Campers will stay in residence and eat at our brand-new dining hall. Sessions will be run by Vikes Varsity coaches and players.
We will offer a ‘locals option’ for campers who prefer not to stay overnight.

Our Mini Vikes basketball camp is developed with the beginner basketball player in mind! We will teach your child the basic fundamentals of basketball with a focus on passing, dribbling and shooting. Love to move? Love to dance? Then our full day dance camp is the place for you! Each day will feature a variety of different dance workshops with quality professional instructors that will explore different forms of dance- hip hop, jazz, musical theatre and cultural dances to name a few! Learn the Olympic sport of fencing! Beginners will go through safety training, warm ups, group lessons, and progress to one-on-one matches. Ready to lace up your skates and explore the magic of figure skating? Participants will learn how to warm up, run bases, field, throw, and hit. They will develop their skills at their own pace while learning correct footwork, body mechanics, sport specific techniques, as well as game strategies and tactics. Participants require their own glove and batting helmet with cage to participate.

Overcome your Shakes-fear and learn to act Shakespeare. This intensive masterclass for teen actors focuses on making accessible the performance texts of William Shakespeare. Through voice, movement, and text-analysis training, students will explore the power of Shakespeare's celebrated plays, and gain introduction to adaptations of the Bard's major works by playwrights from across the world. After an intensive exploration of one scene of their choice, the masterclass culminates in a public showcase.

Our leadership development program gives teens the opportunity to learn valuable tools to work with children in a recreation program environment. Staff mentors will support them through hands-on practical experience. Participants will also learn theoretical knowledge through the HIGH FIVE training workshop - Principles in Healthy Childhood Development, and will become certified in Emergency First Aid. Participants will also receive training in outdoor recreation leadership as part of the camp.
