Looking for exciting ways to keep your kids active this year? Vikes camps offer everything from high performance sport camps, to sport development, climbing, outdoor, and non-competitive recreational camps.
Vikes Athletics and Recreation offers youth camps for children ages 5 to 17 years old. In addition to our popular summer camp program, we have expanded to include camps over winter break, spring break and pro-d days. Using both indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and fields on the University of Victoria campus, our experienced Vikes camp leaders will guide campers through a variety of games and activities. Campers will develop new skills, meet new friends, explore creativity, and experience exciting activities in a fun, safe and positive environment.
Throughout the year we have a number of different camps: seasonal camps (spring, summer, winter) over the school holidays.

We offer four categories of Vikes Summer Camps for children ages 5 to 17 years old. With a range of camps to choose from, there is something for every camper.
Take your camp experience to the next level! Our high performance programs are aimed at children and youth who are looking to rise to the challenge of enhanced skills, drills and game play led by our varsity coaches and players.
Taking advantage of the great outdoors in the Greater Victoria region we are proud to offer a full slate of climbing and outdoor camps this summer! Certified camp leaders will plan engaging activities that will focus on fun, skill building and teamwork in a safe environment.
Campers of all ages and skill levels will enjoy a week of drills, skill development and interactive games in a fun yet challenging environment. The focus of these camps is on skill building, teamwork and fair play.
We offer a wide variety of recreation based camps that focus on fun, social development and learning through play. Camp leaders will plan non-competitive games, arts and crafts and other activities that will engage all participants.

The Vikes Archery camp is designed for kids who are new to the sport and looking for a positive first experience. Campers will be given instruction in the basic components of an archery shot on a recurve bow, learn the basics of target shooting and scoring, and understand field safety. Vikes ball hockey camp promotes skill development, fun and fair play in the CARSA field house's dry floor arena! Campers will learn skills through various drills in ball handling, shooting, passing and defence, supplemented with other activities mixed into the day. Participants are required to bring their own floor hockey stick, helmet (with cage) and gloves.

Vikes Men’s Basketball presents a 3 day camp with a focus on elite skills. Players will learn from Assistant Coach Josh Mullen and Vikes Men’s Basketball players a range of live dribble and off the catch skills. NEW YOUTH
We are excited to offer an overnight high-performance basketball camp for female athletes entering grade 10-12! This camp will be a great opportunity to experience life as a high-performance athlete at the University of Victoria. Campers will get seven training sessions that include both on and off-court elements; on-court sessions will focus on individual skill development and decision-making using a games approach, while off-court sessions include a campus tour, a recruiting information presentation, an introduction to strength and conditioning training as well as a Q&A with our Vikes Varsity athletes. Campers will stay in residence and eat at our brand-new dining hall. Sessions will be run by Vikes Varsity coaches and players. *We will offer a ‘locals option’ for campers who prefer not to stay overnight

Our Mini Vikes basketball camp is developed with the beginner basketball player in mind! We will teach your child the basic fundamentals of basketball with a focus on passing, dribbling and shooting. Our staff will lead the camp through a progression of innovative drills and fun modified games. All participants receive a basketball.

Vikes Cross Country Camp offers an introduction to cross country running through games, pacing strategies, obstacle and hill running as well as team tactics. Love to move? Love to dance? Then our full day dance camp is the place for you! Each day will feature a variety of different dance workshops with quality professional instructors that will explore different forms of dance- hip hop, jazz, musical theatre and cultural dances to name a few! Friday will feature an opportunity to do a showcase performance! This camp is geared for children who are interested in learning new forms of dance movement - no experience necessary.

Learn the Olympic sport of fencing! Beginners will go through safety training, warm ups, group lessons, and progress to one-on-one matches. Experienced fencers of all skill levels will brush up on and develop their skills through drills and bouts. Key skills for all groups will be footwork, blade work and incorporating those techniques into strategy and tactics. Use of all the gear provided.

Introduce your child to the Olympic Sport of Judo! Campers will learn the beginning stages of this martial art through a variety of fun yet challenging drills and games. Designed for youth who have a base of climbing knowledge. This camp will serve as a stepping stone to independance on outdoor rock. Campers will learn top rope anchor building, top of cliff safety, crag etiquette, and route reading. Climbers will get the chance to explore Victoria's various local climbing spots and will learn how to navigate each cliff in the safest way.
Provided by a certified rock climbing guide. All gear and transportation included.
*Mandatory requirements: top rope belay, tie a figure 8 follow through, an understanding of the risk of climbing* This camp is not suitable for beginner climbers.

(Formerly Outdoor Multi-Sport) Join Vikes camps for a week of adventure and excitement outdoors! With a range of land and water-based activities campers will be active in the natural world, which may include hiking, sea or lake kayaking, indoor and outdoor rock climbing and paddle boarding. This camp is best suited for youth who enjoy trying new things, challenging themselves and pushing their limits. Please note no transportation will be provided. Drop off locations for 2-3 of the days will be off campus at various locations up to 30 minutes from campus . A list of pick up and drop off locations will be provided to parents prior to the camp start date.

Created for youth who love to explore and try new things. Whether the camper has never climbed before or can't get enough of gym climbing, this camp is a great introduction to the world of outdoor rock climbing. Campers will leave the camp having learnt how to top rope belay, tie a figure 8 follow through, cliff safety, crag etiquette, and basic movement skills. Victoria has many climbing locations to explore, climbers will get a taste for the best the area has to offer. All levels are welcome.

Participants will learn how to warm up, run bases, field, throw, and hit. They will develop their skills at their own pace while learning correct footwork, body mechanics, sport specific techniques, as well as game strategies and tactics. Participants require their own glove and batting helmet with cage to participate. Full day camps will balance the time playing softball with a variety of other activities, games, and crafts.

Stamina and strength will be introduced progressively at age appropriate levels. Specific SPEED and AGILITY skills for a variety of sports will be taught, and in the afternoon campers will be able to experience what they have learned through interactive games.

Our leadership development program gives teens the opportunity to learn valuable tools to work with children in a recreation program environment. Staff mentors will support them through hands-on practical experience. Participants will also learn theoretical knowledge through the HIGH FIVE training workshop- Principles in Healthy Childhood Development, and will become certified in Emergency First Aid. Participants will also receive training in outdoor recreation leadership as part of the camp.
