Develop self-confidence, self-discipline, and fitness through martial arts.
With a community-based approach, our programs are open to UVic students and the general public, with advanced participants working alongside beginners.
We offer a variety of martial arts taught by experienced instructors who integrate discipline, precision, power, and self-defense into every lesson. Classes include but are not limited to: Aikido, Kendo, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Shotokan Karate, Shorinji Ryu Karate, Judo, Fencing, Fitness Boxing, Women’s Self Defence and Women’s Fitness Kickboxing as well as kid’s programs.

YOUTH
This Japanese art focuses on neutralizing rather than “winning” the conflict. Evolving from traditions of the samurai arts it focuses on perfecting the spirit. For more information on the program email: aikido@uvic.ca.

YOUTH ACCESSIBLE
Work on your footwork, drills, attack & defense. You will train alongside other levels of fencing participants. This course is intended for non-UVIC students and community members looking to continue their fencing training. Previous fencing experience required. When possible please bring your own fencing equipment.
Requirements: No previous fencing experience required.
Class level: Beginner. Beginner friendly 😊.

YOUTH ACCESSIBLE
Intended for non-UVic Students and community members looking to learn the basics of fencing. For those with little or no fencing experience. Learn the basics of the sport, including movement, grip, positioning & drills. You will train alongside other levels of fencing participants. Some fencing foil types and gear provided.
Please note: Children under the age of 16 will require the approval of the instructors.
Requirements: No previous fencing experience required.
Class level: Beginner. Beginner friendly 😊.

Popularized by Bruce Lee, this Chinese martial art is simple, quick, effective and economical. The complete art can be learned in less than six months. Open to all levels. Beginners welcome!
