Inclusion at Vikes Camps

Vikes Athletics and Recreation have partnered with Science Venture to provide a campus-wide approach to inclusion for youth.

Summer 2023 will see some changes in regards to Queen Alexandras’ Supported Child Development Program role in facilitating inclusion needs and practices within our camps. Supported Child Development will be taking a back seat in the involvement of securing funding for Inclusion purposes and also Inclusion support workers (ISW) placement. This responsibility will now be put into the hands of individual summer camps to assign roles specific to the camps themselves.

For Science Venture & Vikes Athletics support for children and youth who require extra help this summer will be centralized through our brand new inclusion team. This team will bridge both UVic Vikes Athletics & Recreation as well as Science Venture. This will consist of ISW, as well as an Inclusion Coordinator who will oversee the entire operation. This new department will ensure the safety and the needs of each individual child and youth are met, and their time at camps will be a fun and enjoyable experience.

We are dedicated to ensuring that youth receive the support they need to attend camps, we believe that all youth should have the opportunity to come to campus. We have updated our inclusion information forms and you can access them here (PDF). Please fill out the information to the best of your ability. The more information you provide us, the better we can support your child.

We anticipate that you will have further follow-up questions regarding Inclusion Supports on Campus, if this is the case you can email our Inclusion Coordinator at inclusiononcampus@uvic.ca

We are excited to start another fun summer and hope to see you there.
