Coastal Rowing

Coastal Rowing is a sport gaining popularity worldwide, debuting at the 2028 Olympic Games. It’s a sport that combines fitness with the thrill of mastering the elements. UVic welcomes competitive and leisure coastal rowers. No rowing experience is necessary. Come and join us down at the Cadboro Bay Sailing Compound.

A variant of traditional rowing, coastal rowing takes place on open water, often near coastlines or on large lakes, and involves navigating rough waters and potential obstacles likes waves, currents and marine traffic. It utilizes sturdy boats designed to withstand the conditions and offers a more adventurous experience compared to calm-water rowing.

Join the Coastal Rowing Club

To join the club, a $150 membership fee per semester can be paid online at vikesrec.ca/register or through the CARSA Membership Services desk. These fees go towards our user agreement for rowing boats and Rowing Canada fees.

The club is always looking for more executive members! If you are passionate about coastal rowing, student leadership, committed, and would like to help out, please let one of us know!
