Who we are

The UVCP (UVic Camp Programs) is a new collaboration between the two largest providers of summer camps on the University of Victoria campus - UVic Vikes and Science Venture. We are collaborating to provide a unified inclusion experience for youth attending any summer camp on the UVic campus.

Job Description

The UVCP Inclusion Coordinator will create a unified summer camp inclusion experience for all children and youth requiring additional support. Reporting to the Community Programs Coordinator at Vikes Recreation, the UVCP Inclusion coordinator will work collaboratively with UVic Vikes, Science Venture, and community parents/caregivers to ensure that all youth participating in UVCP receive their required support. The coordinator will oversee all Inclusion Workers, help create individualized plans for youth with disabilities and/or designations, liaise with parents, and work with the UVCP Admin teams to optimize program inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities

Identify camp participants who may require additional inclusion supports
Assist with hiring and training of inclusion workers
Assign and schedule inclusion workers
Plan and implement onboarding of youth with disabilities and/or designations
Continually improve and optimize individual inclusion plans
Work with community and government organizations to facilitate staff training and learning opportunities
Attend Vikes Camp and Science Venture Staff Meetings

Qualifications

Experience working with children and youth in a summer camp or child/youth program environment (previous work experience as an Educational Assistant (EA) would be an asset)
Experience working with youth with diverse needs
Previous experience (or knowledge of) implementing accessibility accommodations
Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C (or be willing to obtain by the start of camps)
Completion of a Criminal Record Check (CRC)
