Position

Vikes Summer Camps offer a wide variety of quality sports and recreation camps. We provide high quality, fun, safe and positive experiences for all participants.

The Climbing and Outdoor Programs Supervisor reports to Climbing Center Coordinator and assists with planning, administration, supervision, and operations of the Climbing and Outdoor Camps program. The assistant provides strong leadership in meeting camp objectives and represents the department’s emphasis on service excellence.

Key duties

  • Facilitate ongoing planning, implementation and review of the Vikes Climbing and Outdoor Summer Camps objectives, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills to camp staff to provide an outstanding employment experience
  • Liaise with parents, guardians, caregivers, and the university community as a positive representative of Vikes Athletics and Recreation and the Climbing center
  • Work closely with the Inclusion Support Workers to facilitate care and planning
  • Support and monitor the day-to-day schedule of activities, programs and staffing levels for climbing and outdoor camps Including coverage of camp leaders.
  • Liaise with the Vikes coaches, and department staff to meet all legislative and operational requirements
  • Support the evaluation processes of the Vikes summer camps during and post camp season
  • Inventory management of camp supplies
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR “C” certifications
  • Completion of a criminal record check
  • A minimum of 2 seasons of climbing or outdoor camp leader experience (or equivalent)
  • Computer competencies with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with Innosoft Fusion software is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and capacity to work in a fast paced, demanding environment
  • Experience in a leadership role and with staff training and supervision
  • Program planning and administration
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with adults and children
  • Experience working in a climbing gym environment is an asset
  • ACMG Climbing Gym Instructor 1 or equivalent
